Assalamu aliakum Respected Parents,

Students learned new lessons about family members. In grammar they learned how to use (هذا وهذه) with masculine or feminine ,the lesson included the letters ر-د in all their shapes in the word. They wrote a list of new words that included these letters.

InshaAllah shortly homework will be sent home .

Class Updates

Assalamu Alaikum,

I hope you are all doing well.

Here are some updates:

Math: We have been working on our second unit in Math, NUMERATION. We will be working with numbers from 0 to 1000. The students have been representing and describing numbers such as 894 in a variety of ways and situations. Relationships among numbers and among digits in numbers have been and will be emphasized as students rename, round, compare and order numbers, explore number patterns and develop number sense.

 Your child will also work with money amounts up to $10 and work with bills up to $100.

So far students have represented numbers in a variety of ways (ten frames, tally marks, standard form, expanded form, base ten blocks...etc).

Today we started learning how to round numbers to the nearest hundreds and tens.


Reading: We have been working on different reading strategies from our CAFE MENU while reading to self, and I have been working with some students to reinforce some of these strategies. So far we are focusing on: Back up and Reread, Predict and Confirm, Visualize, Ask Questions while Reading and Infer. 

Insha'Allah we will be working on more reading strategies, and once we are done DRA, I will be sending home a letter with your child, so you can assist your child on using the strategy he/she needs to work on  while reading.

We have been also identifying the story elements and the moral when reading our fables.

Writing: We have been working on staying on topic, having a topic sentence and writing compound sentences.

Science: We have been exploring soil layers, uses of soil, what soil is made of and how people and animals benefit from soil. It has been a lot of fun exploring soil and we can't wait till our workshop this Friday where we will get to explore even more!

Social Studies: We are learning about PIONEERS. Why pioneers left their homes, how we think they felt, what their lives were like, and how their lives were different from our lives today.


Islamic Studies: We are learning lessons from the story of Prophet Ibrahim, and how Iman made him brave. We also learned that cleanliness is from the Iman, and how to keep our bodies and our surroundings clean.

السلام عليكم:

*بدأنا بحمد الله الدرس الأول (في مكتبة المدرسة ) من المنهج المقرر لهذا العام ، بعد أن تم مراجعة وتعزيز بعض المهارات اللغوية الأساسية  السابقة .

*للصف الثالث 3 حصص لمادة اللغة العربية لهذا العام ( الاثنين ، الاربعاء ، و الخميس ( من كل أسبوع ،وقت الحصة 50 دقيقة.

*الواجبات المنزلية … الرجاء متابعتها من أجندة الطالب في أيام حصص اللغة العربية المشار اليها ...

*الواجب المنزلي غالبا ما يكون :

التدريب على القراءة الصحيحة بصوت مرتفع لموضوع محدد (الرجاء اعطاء ذلك مزيدا من الاهتمام لأهميته ) …..أو تكملة تدريبات لغوية تم حلها في الصف على شكل أنشطة صفية مختلفة، ولم يتسن للطالب تكملة حلها في الفصل ….. أو  لمراجعة جمل الإملاء التي تم التدريب عليها في الفصل أيضا.

*تم تقسيم طلاب الصف الثالث لهذا العام، بشعبتيه( أ- ب) معا ،  الى مستويين :

-           المستوى الأول منهما، والذي كلفت بمهام تدريسه لهذا العام، سمي باسم ( الزبير بن العوام ) كما هو موضح في بداية الرسالة ...

-          والمستوى الثاني منهما،  سمي باسم آخر ( علي بن أبي طالب ) وكلفت بمهام تدريسه معلمة أخرى.

Class Updates

Assalamu Alaikum,

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all doing well.

Here are some updates:

Math: We have been exploring repeating, growing and shrinking patterns. We learned to describe and create a repeating pattern with more than one changing attribute. We also learned how to show growing and shrinking patterns on a 100 chart, and how to describe them.

Spelling: We learned words with the short a, o, e, i and u sounds. Today we had our first spelling quiz and isA we will be having a spelling quiz every Tuesday.

Students will be writing the list words in their agendas isA.

Writing: We learned how to write a journal entry (date, title, topic sentence, transition words and conclusion)... Students each wrote about their Eid and later we wrote about Character Day making sure to stay on topic, add enough details and use adjectives to make our writing piece interesting.

Reading: We learned that story elements are the pieces or parts that make the story, and that every piece is important to complete the story.

Students looked at pictures of the fable "The Lion and the Mouse"and put them in order. After which we watched the video, and discussed the moral of the story. IsA we will be reading the story as a class to identify the different story elements as we retell the story.

IsA we will be reading more fables in the coming period.

Today we introduced Read to Self  and we reviewed the I Chart. Students modeled the wrong way to read to self followed by the proper way. IsA we will be working on different reading strategies when reading. Today I introduced how to BACK UP AND REREAD.

Science: We will be learning about soil and its different layers. We discussed how to stay safe when exploring soil.

We went to the school playground today and investigated soil. Students each made their own mind map showing their findings.

Social Studies: We will be learning about PIONEERS. We discussed who they are, and students completed an activity in pairs where they had to list ten things they would take if they had to leave to another country. 

Islamic Studies: We are learning about Prophet Ibrahim and the components of Hajj.

Art: Students did a wonderful job designing their book boxes by making patterns, drawing their reading world and pasting pictures and words. 

They had also completed a mosaic showing good deeds before Eid :) 

Note: Kindly note that students will be writing their homework in their agendas.
