Dear Parents,

Please follow up with HW or workbook assignments. I date , sign and mark students work. Monday Quiz will be sent home on Wednesday to be signed by parents and returned on Thursday to the Homeroom teacher. It is essential to keep up with the deadlines of return dates . Thank you.

In-class assignments , HW or work completion is essential as well as participating in projects, atendance to tests and quizzes.

 

Thursday Jan 24th studenst will have  a short science quiz related to the science do-tank assigned pages. Follow up , daily vocabulary review is essential for science classes. We started our new unit Strucures. Students are required to keep a science folder and   a science notebook, and be ready in class.  As a part of the unit students are required to built a skyscraper however it is not about having the tallest structure more it is on how they use the new vocabulary , what they learned about strong buildings , structure material and on. The project rubrics and expectations will be distributed. We are half way to the unit, though their science do-tank includes all lessons.

So far students are responsible :

 

· Write definitions for the following words: Structure, Strength, Stability

 Make a list of three natural structures and three man-made structures.

 In class we did an experiment with cotton ball and elastic band. What did we learn about forces acting on structures?

 

Islamic Studies , next class they will have a short review and quiz on the first 4 chapters as well. Essentially on how to make wudu and getting ready for salah. Please follow up first 4 chapters unit C with them.

Monday Jan 28th Chapter Test Chapter 6 ( all lessons)

Science Do-Tanks are distributed , please follow up with their work as they need to gain and use actively new vocabulary on this chapter about structures such as structure,purpose, stable, strong, ties..
Ask Questions such as:
What makes a strong building or a bridge?
Why some structures stand over years but some do not?

Mid-Chapter Test

Dear Parents, Students will have a mid-chapter test for Chapter 6 on Monday Jan. 21st. It will be on adding 3 digit numbers, word problem and rounding to the nearest tens and hundreds. I go over the HW pages daily .The test is very similar to the HW questions. ( Workbook pages 46 and 48 has been given so far as Math-HW )
Science class we will need empty milk or juice boxes, yoghurt boxes if you have any please send in

New Teachers for Grade 3

Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As most of you are already aware, both Teacher Amal and Teacher Sarra are no longer with us. Consequently, we will be having new teachers for Grade 3 for the rest of the academic year. Alhamdulillah we were able to hire qualified teachers in a timely manner. We have also made the following efforts to make sure the students have as smooth a transition as possible:

• The timing of the transition: changing a teacher in the middle of the year is quite a drastic change for young minds. However, this could not have happened at a better time, i.e. right after the winter break.
• Informed the students before the winter break so they could be mentally prepared.
• The new teachers have been debriefed by the departing teachers and the school administration. They have been preparing over the winter break for their new assignment. They have a very good idea of  where to start with the students and what needs to be completed for the rest of the year.
• The school administration is monitoring grade 3 and working very closely with the new teachers to make sure the transition is smooth and the curriculum is being covered as it should be.

Parents are kindly requested to be patient with this transition and give the teachers the time/space needed to establish procedures/routines.

Both the teachers will be sending out a letter home this week introducing themselves.
